A Night in Sydney - Newtown
This week I headed to Sydney's inner western suburbs to explore Newtown. Its streets are filled with a

Next stop on our list was a small restaurant named Belly Bao which in true Newtown fashion combines Asian street food such as steamed buns and noodles with Hip Hop and cocktails creating a truly unique aesthetic. This was truly a highlight of our night as the food was well priced and the cocktails were unique, mixing yuzu and popping pearls into all kinds of things. Walking into Belly Bao you get a real sense of personality as laughter, conversation, and a fresh playlist can be heard in
harmony throughout.
Sitting next to Belly Bao is the prominent Newtown Hotel which on Friday nights showcases the widespread acceptance in Newtown of the LGBTQI+ community. We sat down in the bar on the second floor and after getting a few drinks into us the show began. Three drag queens came marching out dressed to the nines and began to perform. This was truly a treat and to the unsuspecting patron this may come as a surprise but it's safe to say, they didn't disappoint. After a few more drinks our show had ended so we decided to head onwards.
Next stop was a step back towards the train station and into the three-tiered Websters Bar. At ground
level Websters Bar is a fairly regular bar; it contains a DJ, a bar and a small dance floor but continuing upwards it quickly changes into a whiskey bar, serving their own select bourbon from Woodford Reserve and a plethora of other whiskeys from all around the world. This floor is rounded off with a cocktail lounge aesthetic and a charming atmosphere. Climbing even higher Websters Bar changes once more into a rooftop bar serving snacks and starlit drinks with a great view of King Street.
After our journey through Newtown I truly felt as if I had experienced many great and varied things.
An adventure through cultures and cuisines Newtown is a great place for drinks with friends with a
little something for everyone.
