Look in a Book
Sydney is a land of many subcultures, and today I'd like to make a post about a few bookstores in the Sydney CBD I'm a huge fan of.
First and foremost is Kinokuniya, a behemoth of the Sydney bookstore scene. Kinokuniya has a huge range of subculture books, comics, and manga, in Japanese, English and Chinese! Located right on top of the Town Hall station, in the top floor of the Galleries Victoria, it is easy to get to, and is almost an entire floor of book loving heaven. If you're in Sydney long enough, the staff do orders, too! From art, to architecture, to Japanese Pulp Fiction, Kinokuniya has most everything you could need.
Close to Kinokuniya, is Galaxy Books, a Science Fiction bookstore with a very wide range; holding onto many rare or exciting titles! If Kinokuniya doesn't have what you need, Galaxy might, and vice versa!
Looking for Secondhand Japanese titles, or Japanese dubs on DVD of popular Western Films? Look no further than Hondarake (full of books) located near Sussex Street, next to the bridge to Darling Harbour. (Level 2/39 Liverpool St, Sydney NSW 2000)
Here's a few pictures of inside and out!
Hondarake is a small, but jam packed store, which stocks items of value to collectors, language learners and everyone in between. Its highly recommended, as well as the other stores I've mentioned today!
Take care and happy browsing~
